We contacted Sam to help our son with college admissions last fall. He sat down with us and gave us a comprehensive overview of what to expect from the admissions process. He was very knowledgeable and gave us some really insightful strategies. He was extremely helpful with SAT coaching (helped get our son’s score up to a 1540!) and also with essay structuring. He would always return drafts within less than a day full of notes and helpful feedback and pointers. Our son got into MIT for Early Action! Thank you, Sam, for all of your help. Can recommend him without a doubt to anyone who wants an easy and smooth college admissions process! -Mitchell
Sam started working with my daughter Elizabeth on her AP Calc BC exam. She has a history of struggling with math exams specifically, but after working on her technique with Sam, she scored a 5 (top mark). He provided her with a lot of solid strategies and made sure she was calm, confident and well prepared for all sorts of questions. We then worked with Sam again in the summer between Elizabeth's junior and senior year. He first helped her again with strategies for the SAT, as Elizabeth was stuck with 1320. After only a few sessions, she was able to raise her score up to a 1530 which changed the game for Elizabeth's college application process entirely, as she was much more confident in applying to a wider range of schools. Sam developed a plan of action to apply to some more schools, and worked long hours with Elizabeth to make sure her essays and supplementals were strong and focused! She would send drafts to him late in the afternoon and he'd give her detailed feedback and critique usually within an hour or so. He is very efficient! Elizabeth got into many of her top choices including Penn, Duke, UMichigan, Carnegie Mellon and Columbia. Sam is an excellent math tutor and admissions coach! -Jason
My sophomore son has felt very defeated in his AP Pre Calc class this year. After a disappointing test grade, we found Sam, after looking on Wyzant. Sam was so kind to work with my son for 3 hours straight on a Saturday afternoon. What a difference it made! Sam quickly identified his weaknesses, patiently worked through problems with him, and made sure he understood the process on some very difficult AP math problems. My son emerged from his session with a big smile and his confidence back. The retest is coming up, so Sam made sure my son had what he needed to review and to be successful on the retake. I highly recommend Sam for AP Pre Calc. He is making a difference! -Susan
Sam completely changed Alex's college planning strategy, who was not being advised well by his school's college counselor. Meeting only for a total of six sessions, Sam took the time, and advised my son to apply for physics in the Arts & Sciences college of Cornell University, opposed to applied physics in the Engineering college, due to his grander interests and current coursework. Sam helped tremendously with finding the common themes across his essays. Sam would consistently review every draft my son would send to him, making sure the common app essay and each supplemental essay built upon Ethan's narrative, adding something new and innovative. His feedback was astute! My son got an interview quickly after applying with an alum, for which Sam coached him. I'll add that as Sam is an alum of Cornell he was able to give Alex some excellent insight for both his essays and for questions to ask the interviewer. Alex got accepted into Cornell University for the College of Arts and Sciences through Early Decision! If you want a stress free college application process, I'd highly suggest working with Sam. We truly are so grateful for Sam's help and extra efforts! -Tamara
I needed some help with AI and machine learning for a new business concept I was interested in prototyping. I contacted Sam and he met with me for two weeks, teaching me the foundations and even explaining the complex concepts behind LLMs, NLP, and more advanced imaging softwares. It was really great to get an in-depth level appropriate overview from them. Will definitely be in touch with Sam regularly! Highly recommend -Jared
We moved from the Florida school curriculum to the Connecticut curriculum and my daughter Charlotte was placed in Algebra 2 as a junior. She was eager on getting into AP Calculus AB for senior year, as she wanted to study pre-med in college, although she was struggling in Algebra 2. She worked with Sam over the summer to fill in the algebra and pre calc material. They met once a week for an hour and a half, for 9 weeks. He prepared a stellar curriculum, with ample amounts of practice questions for homework, so she could pace herself between sessions. She felt very confident going in and taking her summer placement test, and she scored a 97%, which actually allowed her to move into AP Calculus BC. Since then, she has been flying through the class thanks to the sessions Sam gave her in the summer! Sam has been the best investment we have made in Charlotte's education. -Natasha
I was taking graduate level machine learning and reinforcement learning as a junior in college, and Sam saved me! He was able to teach me a semester's worth of material in under a week, and help me really understand it, way better than my professor. We went over the different learning algorithms at a theoretical level, and then he guided me on implementing them from scratch, and gave me a crash course in Pytorch too, because debugging code was part of my exam. He used a lot of different graphing techniques too, to really get into the small details of all models. Couldn't recommend him highly enough! -Solly
Emily was a junior in high school when we relocated to America from the UK. Many of her subjects did not translate easily into the US school system, and she was all over the place academically. We worked with Sam for a few months between her junior and senior year. He got her set up quickly with the SAT process and essay writing. She got into her top school at Columbia University early decision! Thank you to Sam for holding our hand throughout the admissions process! -Elizabeth
After weeks of anxiously searching for a consultant that would help me get into my dream school, I stumbled across Sam’s account. Even though we were only three weeks from the EA deadline, he was able to create a schedule that, once we worked through it, allowed me to finish with time to review my most important essays. We spent a lot of time forging essay ideas that were based on my interests, ambitions, identity, and strengths. He was very patient when I repeatedly asked him to check over the same essays I was most concerned with and we thoroughly spoke things out with each other. In the end, Sam helped me get into my dream school: MIT! It also helped that he is in CS, which is my biggest interest. I recommend Sam whether you’re months, weeks, or days ahead of your deadline. -Ilyes
Sam was an excellent tutor for my PhD personal statements. We met weekly during the one month deadline to improve my drafts. His feedback was constructive and pointed out the importance of balancing technical details with a narrative story. Sam also suggested that since Jackson lacked , he take on an original project, with Sam and his colleague both supervised, and was ready in time to show for early action! Jackson applied to UMich and MIT for early action, and got into both! We couldn't have done it without Sam. -Nick
As a professional with a non - technical degree, I contacted Sam with a specific question to help me for interview prep with a consulting company role I was applying for. I was struggling a lot in symbolic logic, some of the terms just weren't clicking despite regularly going to my TAs and professor during office hours. I started meeting with Sam once a week, and he was able to explain the concepts from the ground up in a different way so that I could understand what was going on. I got a 96 on the second midterm and an A in the course. He works in a very calm and supporting way and makes sure not to move on until everything clicks. This is so important for logic and math where each topic builds on the previous topic. I ended up minoring in Philosophy with a specialization in logic, and enjoyed taking more advanced classes like Modal Logic because of Sam! Could not recommend Sam highly enough -Marisha
Sam helped me understand important concepts in AP Computer Science principles. He explained everything thoroughly and at a level I could understand. I definitely recommend him. -Kim

Sam was extremely supportive and helpful prepping me for my computational linguistics college final exam. He went over each topic carefully, and gave very clear demonstrations of each learning algorithm (Naive Bayes, neural networks, HMM Viterbi, CKY parsing). We worked on multiple examples for each algorithm (both with toy data and language data, and worked on a sample of other exam problems that Sam provided. Computational linguistics is hard, but I feel very confident going into my exam later this week thanks to these sessions. -Thomas
